A Ride into the Wild: Durgapur to Duarsini & Kankrajhore
There are some trips you plan… and then there are trips that slowly turn into experiences you carry for a lifetime. This ride to Duarsini and Kankrajhore was exactly that—a mix of adventure, raw nature, and moments of pure peace.
The Beginning – 22nd March 2026
We started our journey on 22nd March 2026 around 8:30 AM from Durgapur. The morning had that perfect travel vibe—clear sky, light breeze, and the excitement of hitting the road. I was accompanied by one of my senior, Amit Da, whose experience and calm approach made the ride even more enjoyable and confident. As we rolled out of the city, the traffic slowly thinned, and the open highway welcomed us with smooth stretches. It felt like the day had just begun, and so had our adventure.
Leaving the Highway – The Real Ride Begins
After covering a good stretch on the highway, we took a turn into rural roads—and that’s where things started getting interesting. The terrain became rough, roads narrower, and the surroundings more raw and natural. We were no longer just travelling; we were exploring. Riding through village paths, patches of broken roads, and off-road sections gave us that true adventure feel. At one point, we rode through fields glowing with bright orange Palash flowers, creating a surreal landscape. We stopped there for a while—not just for photos, but to actually absorb the beauty around us.

Entering Duarsini – Calm, Quiet, and Untouched
As we approached Duarsini, the entire atmosphere shifted. The roads were surrounded by dense forest, tall trees forming a natural canopy, and a silence that felt incredibly peaceful.
Duarsini is not overly commercialised, and that’s what makes it special. It gives you a chance to truly disconnect.
We took several stops—not out of necessity, but because every turn felt like a frame worth capturing.
Ride to Kankrajhore – Into the Hills and Wilderness
From Duarsini, we continued our journey towards Kankrajhore. The road conditions became more challenging, but also more exciting. Gradual climbs, sharp turns, and dense forest routes made the ride thrilling. There were long stretches where it was just us, our bike, and complete silence—no crowds, no noise, just nature. Kankrajhore felt raw and untouched, a place where time slows down and you start noticing the smallest details around you.
The Return – Through the Dark Forest of Ranibandh
As we started our return journey, we took the forest route via Ranibandh. What started as a normal ride soon turned into one of the most intense experiences of the trip. By the time we entered the deeper forest stretch, it was already getting late. Within minutes, the jungle turned pitch dark. There were no street lights, no nearby villages—just a narrow road cutting through dense forest. The darkness was so intense that even our bike headlights felt insufficient at times. The silence was absolute, broken only by the sound of the engine and occasional forest noises. That stretch tested both our focus and confidence. Riding carefully through unknown roads, staying alert, and trusting each other’s judgment—it added a completely different dimension to the journey. It was slightly challenging, a bit thrilling, and honestly, unforgettable.
Why This Ride Was Special
This trip wasn’t about luxury or comfort—it was about:
Riding beyond the usual tourist routes
Experiencing raw, untouched nature
Facing challenges like rough terrain and dark forest roads
Sharing the journey with the right companion
Every difficult stretch, every wrong turn, and every unexpected moment made the experience richer.
